6 useful Cycling Accessories, under ₹1000. #editorpicks

So you got a new ride recently? You're super stoked about it! Talking about your new bike at home, with your friends and your colleagues, taking it out for a spin every day, uploading ride stats on Strava... I get it, I get it! we've all been there 😉

In today's market, there are a plethora of options when it comes to cycles and cycling accessories. Here I focus on 6 essential/useful accessories under a grand  :)

HELMET

Oh boy, I can never stop emphasizing on the importance of a helmet, this is not an accessory, it is essential! First things first, get a decent helmet and never ride without one!

Recommendation

VAN RYSEL RoadR 100 Cycling Helmet

ROCKRIDER Mountain Bike Helmet ST 100

GLOVES

The one part of your body that is in constant contact with the bike are your hands. More specifically, your palms. Wearing cycling gloves not only wicks up moisture/sweat but also helps prevent chafing. The padding in the gloves provides comfort and some degree of protection during a fall.

Recommendation

TRIBAN Road cycling 900 Cycling Gloves

Sprugal® Rockbros Sports & Fitness Gloves

LIGHT

You can classify them as: To be seen & To see

If your ride includes a part where the daylight fades, its good to invest in a pair of lights (front & rear).

I would also like to mention reflective jackets.

Regardless of the time, "to be seen" is vital for rider safety. I would advise wearing a reflective jacket (preferably fluorescent in color), especially during night rides.

Recommendation

SL 500 LED Front / Rear USB Bike Light

100 LED USB Rear Bike Light

High Reflective Jacket

GLASSES

It’s fair to say that cycling sunglasses are getting bigger, shinier, sportier and many may think it as just a fashion accessory. Enough said! Cycling glasses not only make you look cooler, but they also function as eye protection gear. Protection from the sun and its harmful UV rays, wind, dust, and rain. And if you're the kind wearing prescription lenses (like me) 😉 you might want to pick a dark tinted lens with a UV coating, else go for contact lenses and any glass of your choice :)

Recommendation

CYCLING SHORTS

One of the easiest things you can do to improve your comfort while cycling is getting cycling shorts. If you plan to ride more than an hour at a stretch, it is advisable to wear appropriate cycling clothing. Cycling shorts are padded hence reduce saddle soreness and the fabric is designed to comfortably stretch, quickly wicks perspiration, and prevent chafing.

BOTTLE CAGE

It may seem excessive to put a lot of thought and writing into a piece of gear as mundane as the bottle cage. It's quite useful when you don't have to stop every time and open your backpack for a sip when you can just grab a bottle mid-ride from the cage.
